Why Ukraine will win

I’ve spent time in recent years in cities in Russia and Ukraine: Lviv and Leningrad, Kyiv & Moscow etc

Of all the memories of talking to locals, I realized today that faded memories of glory never win.

It comes down to this observation: Russians are proud of their past, and Ukrainians are proud of their future.

Nowhere was the future of Ukraine clearer than my visit to a traditional festival south of Kyiv in 2018.

An array of horse riders aged upwards of 8 showed their skill and tricks, but mostly their fearlessness.

These young people are the fighters of the present.

And now we’re here. Does Vlad really think these kids will roll over and offer bread and salt to their asshole cousins?

Raise a glass to the millennials of Ukraine — they are the existential front line against the approaching fight with a bigger power from the East.

And onwards to Taiwan we go…
